"The difference between poets of the first rank and those of the second rank is that the former can pick and choose their temporary movement from objectivity to subjectivity while the latter make this journey with a too frequent wild abandon. It is well written, well researched, and contains excellent illustrations of its subject matter. In this book, Kevin gives us ideas for all of those. I have used it for studying and note-taking and pretty much anything I’ve ever needed to use it for and it has held up. There's always at least one bad apple in the barrel, and I've found the 'bad apple'. In all of these ways that cinema creates, manifests and reinforces the surveilled subject position, this book's focus on compulsive documentation narration (to which this review testifies) may be the most pertinent yet.
